weapon tips
Now with 162 tips!
Weapon Tip 1: If you are cornered and a homing missile is coming towards you, you may not be in trouble. If it has to make a turn, do the following: Get as close to the intersection it's gonna turn in to as possible. Scoot up against the wall on the side it will come from. When the missile is in the middle of the intersection, make a turn into where it came from.
Weapon Tip 2: For what it's worth, your shield will maintain its circular shape, even when penetrating walls. You can use this to push a tank that's on the other side of a wall.
Weapon Tip 3: Even though the graphic of the laser is a solid line, it acts like a tiny, super-fast bullet. Only the leading end of the laser is deadly.
Weapon Tip 4: If your opponent fires a homing missile at you, try not to shoot anything, and instead chase after them until you can get their missile to follow them.
Weapon Tip 5: Remember that homing missiles are slower when turning. Try to run around a small object, or if in a big area, let the missile come close to you, and just run around in circles.
Weapon Tip 6: If you're being pursued by an enemy with a shield, fire bullets at them to knock them back, which will slow them down. Keep a reserve bullet, and try to use it right when the shield expires.
Weapon Tip 7: If you have a shotgun and are being chased by someone with a shield, let them chase you until their shield is about to run out. Then, shoot at a wall in front of you and turn (like in General Tip 3) to get them on the rebound. Be sure you are at least one block away from the wall when you do this.
Weapon Tip 8: Beware of power-up spawns in ranked battles. Try not to occupy the same space a power-up might, until you plan on using it (though you can be in the surrounding space of the tile it occupies). It's easy to accidentally shoot yourself with a laser or shotgun if you're not careful!

Weapon Tip 9: Did you know that while firing the laser, you cannot move or turn for an extremely brief period? Best to not fire it if you plan to dodge that bullet next to you. Obviously, this applies to the death ray, too, as I stated in some previous tip, but I'd say that's obvious, since you're paralyzed for even longer.
Weapon Tip 10: Power-ups hidden in a seasonal-themed containers are random. Like normal power-ups, you can stack them, unless you already have three in reserve. If you are trying to pick one up and don't have three in reserve, then you obviously have a shield active, and the hidden power-up is also a shield. Use this knowledge to your advantage; you may want to save the shield for later.
Weapon Tip 11: Avoid shooting the laser at a tank if there is a wall perpendicular to your line of fire or a corner behind them, so they don't dodge your laser, causing you to kill yourself.
Weapon Tip 12: I'm sure basically all of us tend to raid the area around a good weapon. But consider these 2 strats: 1) Defend the area around a weapon you're not so good at. 2) If you know where the weapons spawn, go to those areas in advance.
Weapon Tip 13: Did you know that you can dodge a homing missile coming down a corridor? You dodge it the same way as a bullet (General Tip 1), EXCEPT it is a bit riskier. First, we must understand how this works. A homing missile traveling down a corridor does NOT travel straight. It goes side to side just a bit. If you move to one side of the corridor, you can lure the missile to that side. Then, dodge it on the other side.
Weapon Tip 14: The laser's aiming guide is helpful, but distracting. It makes it easy to aim, so you keep looking for different angles to shoot at, longer than you would with bullets. But beware! It is easy to not notice bullets near you when aiming!
Weapon Tip 15: If you have the right angle for the laser, but aren't close enough to the person to hit them, just move forward as close to the wall in front of you as you can without changing the angle to extend the laser's reach reach.
Weapon Tip 16: Different weapons have different hitboxes. If a certain weapon barely clears a wall, then another weapon shot in the same direction may not necessarily clear it. I will also emphasize this about lasers. If you shoot a laser in one direction, and it goes somewhere you like, then continuing to shoot regular bullets in the same direction may not give you the same result.
Weapon Tip 17: If you're battling someone with a laser, you can peek out of cover whenever you're about to aim or shoot, but be sure to listen for their laser. As soon as you hear it, immediately move to a position where you believe you are least likely to get hit (even if it's just a guess). You many have just enough time to re-position your tank. This has saved my life quite a few times.
Weapon Tip 18: Get someone to use up their laser by baiting a shot. Get into a position that is close to where they're likely to fire, and be ready to dodge it if needed.
Weapon Tip 19: If you have a powerful weapon and have the upper hand, but there is more than one player to deal with, and you lose your advantage as soon as you use the weapon, then defend a certain position in the maze and threaten the players with your weapon to keep them in place until one of them kills the other, then use your weapon.
Weapon Tip 20: Hide your laser against a wall to surprise opponents currently distracted by one another.
Weapon Tip 21: When using the Double Trouble, be sure to count your bullets! In TankTrouble Online, you can stack different weapon types. So, if you accidentally happen to fire a laser instead of a regular bullet, that can be a huge mistake!
Weapon Tip 22: When using the Double Trouble, note that you will always shoot off-center. Also, if you want to be more accurate when using it, be sure to keep track of which barrel fired last. The easiest way to do this is to keep track of how many bullets are left (refer to tip above). If you have an even amount remaining, you will shoot out of your left barrel. If you have an odd amount remaining, you will shoot out of your right barrel.
Weapon Tip 23: Whenever you hear someone collect a weapon, be sure to check for what weapons each person has to know which strategies to play.
Weapon Tip 24: If you have a laser and can't quite get a fix on a tank, but they're pretty close and you want to keep them in check, just rotate your tank back and forth so every possible angle within a small arc is visible. This can discourage the tank from getting too close to you (Perhaps they have a deadly weapon of their own?), and it can also show you potential angles to aim for.
Weapon Tip 25: Keeping one last bullet in a Double Trouble is a great way to hide your laser (if you have one stacked).

Weapon Tip 26: If an opponent can loop around a line to escape your shotgun, get to the edge of it and shoot so the spread distributes on both sides. Make sure you're far away enough to dodge any pellets that bounce back at you.
Weapon Tip 27: You can use a shotgun to push into enemy territory and corner them. Successive shotgun shots can make this process a breeze.
Weapon Tip 28: When dodging a missile, always be ready for it to bounce off of walls. I know I always forget. :(
Weapon Tip 29: When chasing a tank down a corridor with a shield, go down the middle, so they can't double back and get past you.
Weapon Tip 30: Similar to Weapon Tip 2 (and probably a bit more useful), You can use a shield to deflect bullets from the other side of a thin wall.
Weapon Tip 31: To better remember where booby traps are located in matches with many players, either go on the offensive towards a booby trap user and stick with them to keep track of their traps, or go someplace secluded and spy across the map from afar.
Weapon Tip 32: When using a shield, you can ricochet bullets off your shield for more angles. This is especially useful for a shotgun or laser.
Weapon Tip 33: If you're in control of a nearby power-up, it may be a good idea to time WHEN you get it. Remember that if the maximum power-ups are already in a match, the next one won't spawn until another is taken.
Weapon Tip 34: You can activate your own booby trap and take cover from it in order to launch the shrapnel, since it's faster than bullets. The downside of using this online is it can be pretty predictable.
Weapon Tip 35: Defuse booby traps early on if you're worried about forgetting about them. You can do this by activating them and hiding behind a wall, or just using a shield, if it's available.
